The Unmanned Safety Institute (USI) announced today that it has appointed Dr. Arthur Jamison, Jr. to serve as part-time Director of Career & Technical Education Programs to further develop strategic partnerships revolving around Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs within high schools and colleges throughout the United States.
“We are honored to have Dr. Jamison, a true innovation leader in the education sector, join USI and lead the expansion of our national education programs,” said USI President Aaron Greenwald. “Dr. Jamison is highly skilled in the education sector and we have no doubt that he will be an invaluable asset to our many education partners – both current and future – all across America,” remarked Greenwald.
In his role as Director of CTE Programs, Dr. Jamison will work closely with schools and administrators across the country to implement USI’s education curriculum and industry certification programs on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) commonly referred to as drones. Dr. Jamison brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from within the education sector, having most recently served as the Assistant Professor and Education Program Director at the Gaetz Aerospace Institute, a division of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University located in Daytona Beach, FL. A graduate of Lynn University, Dr. Jamison holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership.

Since 2015, USI has offered its drone education programs, both classroom and live flight instruction, to high schools and colleges throughout the United States, having grown to over 150 partner institutions impacting thousands of students each year. In 2017, the American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT®) evaluated and recommended up to twelve (12) college credits for USI’s Small UAS Safety Certification™ program. More than 2,000 colleges and universities consider ACE CREDIT recommendations in determining the applicability of coursework and examination results to their courses and degree programs.
USI offers two distinct turnkey packages for both high schools and colleges:
- •The Small UAS Safety Certification™program is 100% classroom-based education with hands-on exercises and is broken down into four (4) courses totaling over 180 contact hours of education. Topics range from robotics, data links, and payloads to meteorology, human factors, and crew resource management, to safety management systems and much more.
- •The Visual Line-of-Sight System Operations™ (VSO™) Certification program is a blend of both classroom education and live flight instruction. The VSO™ Certification program is composed of 40 contact hours of education, including flight safety education, aircraft familiarization training, flight simulation, and live flight instruction. At the end of the program, students are credentialed with a VSO™ Certification if they pass a practical examination administered by a USI Certified Instructor™.
