The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has approved the Unmanned Safety Institute’s (USI) online “Small UAS Ground School” for participation in the NBAA Professional Development Program (PDP), effective January 12, 2017.  The course meets PDP Objectives: Operations Ops7 and Ops9 and course participants will receive 6 points for CAM Application 4 points for CAM Recertification. This is the only PDP approved offering on the topic of Unmanned Aviation.

“We commend NBAA for their foresight and their commitment to industry-wide aviation safety.  Our program is based on proven aviation safety fundamentals and establishes a foundation from which to grow and evolve UAS operations from.  The education provided will greatly assist flight departments being asked to participate in the standing up of Unmanned operations by providing a clear understanding of operational considerations.”, commented Josh Olds, Vice President of Operations for Unmanned Safety Institute.

Per the NBAA acceptance letter, the NBAA PDP Review Committee felt “the course had overall substantial coverage of the Operations Objectives and the application materials submitted were complete and easy to follow.”

NBAA recognizes that a growing number of businesses are exploring the use of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) across their enterprise. With the recent advancement and accessibility of sUAS as tools to support business pursuits and services, desire for use by engineers, technicians, marketing personnel and other company employees continues to increase. However, such individuals may not have received the appropriate aviation training, certification or practical experience development to safely and effectively operate these platforms, in accordance with operational requirements.
